indicators increasing by 398.55 points (1.58%) and N91 billion (1.58%) to close the day at 25,685.16 points and N5.888 trillion. On Tuesday, there were marginal increases of 2.45 points (0.01%) and N1 billion (0.01%) but on Wednesday, they dipped by 558.60 points (2.17%) and N128 billion (2.18%). However, on Thursday, they gained 66.65 points (0.27%) and N16 billion (0.27%). The market closed on Friday with increases by 186.84 points (0.74%) and N42 billion to close the week at 25,382.50 points and N5.818 trillion. In comparison with the previous Friday’s position of 25,286.61 points and N5.797 trillion, there was a rise by 95.89 points
(0.38%) and N21 billion (0.37%).
Market Capitalisation Index
On the activity chart, the aggregate volume and value of trades in the week under review increased by 24.22% and 38.73%, while the number of deals decreased by 6.99% as 3.11 billion units valued at N24.63 billion were exchanged in 41,079 deals in contrast with 2.50 billion units worth N17.75 billion in 44,166 trades the prior week.
Analysis of Top Percentage Gainers and Losers
A total of 40 (28%) equities appreciated, 59 (40%) declined, leaving 46 (32%) constant in their share prices as against 65 (42%) gainers, 36 (24%) losers and 52 (34%) which remained unchanged the previous week.
Top Gainers by Percentage
Unic Insurance Plc led the percentage gainers table, increasing by N0.20kobo (25.00%) to close at N1.00. Others were Starcomms, Nestle Foods, UACN, Ashaka Cement, Nigerian Breweries, Intercontinental Bank, Access Bank, and so on.
Top Losers by Percentage
Capital Hotel Plc recorded the highest percentage loss in the week, shedding N0.38kobo (20.00%) to close at N1.52. Others were African Petroleum, Omatek Ventures, Custodian & Allied Insurance, Japaul Oil, Diamond Bank, ABC Transport, Mutual Benefit Assurance, Aso Savings & Loans, among others.
