Augusto de la Torre and Sergio L. Schmukler of the World Bank prepared this huge document focussing on the capital markets in the emerging economies of Latin America. It describes the historical developments in the capital markets and the related policy issues. It also analyzes the local capital markets and their place in the ongoing globalization of financial markets. It also compares the outcomes with those of other countries.
The authors conclude that the market reforms of the 1990s spurred capital market development and finacial integration.
